This skirt was made for twirling, so thats just what I'll do
Day 2
Pattern: Circle Skirt I drafted myself
Size: 6yrs (Brylie)
Fabric: Drill from Spotlight, lace from Mum, some 4cm elastic and a self cover button.
Today I made Brylie a circle skirt, I have been wanting to try one of these for a while (eventually want to make it a pattern also, but that will be later). I saw this awesome drill on the sale table at Spotlight and just knew it would be pefect for a skirt.
I wanted it to be a little more than just a skirt so I looked through my box of lace given to be by my Mum and I found a perfect light pink lace to match. It wasn't ruffled so I got out my ruffler foot and gave it a whirl. I havn't gathered one piece of fabric directly onto another piece of fabric yet. I only have to undo it once because the first time I set the ruffles too big and I ran out of lace at the 3/4 mark...the next time I almost ran out too but I just changed the amount of ruffles for the last little bit...I put it at the back and no one will notice.
Its just PERFECT for twirling
I hate to waste anything and so with the little circle that I cut out from the waist I make a yoyo flower and attached it to the waistband. It was one of the first things that Brylie saw and stated that " I LOVE the flower Mummy, can I wear my skirt to bed??" (what is with this child and wearing her new clothes to bed?)
I also made the Bolero (which can be purchased here), but not today. My plan was to make another one, but in the ballet wrap style. However, I put my pattern in a very safe place and couldn't find it. And then the kids all came home from school and preschool and my sewing time was over.
